Chef de Partie jobs

A Chef de Partie is responsible for managing a section of a Kitchen.

The chef de Partie is sometimes referred to as a 'station chef' or 'line cook'.  In larger kitchens the chef de Partie will manage a number of cooks in their particular section whilst in smaller kitchens the Chef de Partie may be the only Chef in that section.

Examples of specific jobs titles are

  • Pastry Chef - Pastries and desserts, some kitchens will have a separate Pastry Chef
  • Grill Chef - for the preparation of grilled foods
  • Vegetable Chef - for the preparation of appetizers, soups and vegetables
  • Pantry Chef - Cold foods such as salads, cold appetizers, pates
  • Roast Chef
  • Fry Chef
  • Fish Chef
  • Saute Chef - Often regarded as one of the most senior for suateed items and their sauces.
